A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
Dear Friends of Holy Angels,
Your generous support ensures Holy Angels’ sustainability. Our journey began in 1965, fueled by a deep commitment to love and service. With your help, we have touched the lives of over 700 children and adults, guiding them on their paths to self-fulfillment through education, empowerment, and independence. Today, we proudly celebrate our focus on educational achievements, advanced training, and meaningful community integration through our AngelWorks Day Program, Residential Care, and Community School.
Many families find themselves navigating the challenges of caring for loved ones with disabilities while trying to balance jobs and other family responsibilities. In these moments of struggle and uncertainty, your partnership allows Holy Angels to be a lifeline, answering their calls for help with compassionate and dedicated services.
Holy Angels must raise over $1.5 million annually to close the funding gap for our essential services. Your ongoing support enables us to change lives and work together toward a brighter future for those we serve.
We wish you all the blessings of the upcoming holiday season.
Sincerely,
Laurie Boswell
Chief Executive Officer
2024 OUR YEAR IN NUMBERS
This year, we’ve soared to new heights by expanding our programming and creating more opportunities to engage and serve our community of students, residents, day program participants, and staff. Join us in celebrating these successes as we continue to spread our wings and empower individuals with disabilities.
COMMUNITY SCHOOL
In just one year, our Community School saw remarkable growth, doubling its enrollment from 26 to 52 students while maintaining a strong 91% attendance rate. Academically, students made significant strides, with math scores increasing by 42% and English scores rising by 24%, showcasing the effectiveness of our dedicated teaching staff.
CULINARY
Our Culinary Department has been busy this year, baking an impressive 57,000 cookies! This achievement highlights the department’s dedication to producing quality goods and providing hands-on experience for the residents who work in the Culinary Enterprise, all while serving our community with delicious treats.
STAFF TRAINING
We are deeply committed to investing in our staff’s growth and professional development. This year, our 270 dedicated staff members collectively completed 4,750 hours of training, strengthening their skills and ensuring the continued success of our programs and services.
NEW OFFERINGS
This year, we expanded our offerings to meet the diverse needs of our community. From take-and-bake meals and custom embroidery services to Howdy Homemade Ice Cream Parties and Catering, we’ve introduced new ways to bring joy, convenience, and personalized service to our supporters.
PEOPLE SERVED
Our AngelWorks Day Program, Community School, and Residential Program have had a meaningful impact throughout the year, serving a combined 245 children and adults. Through education, enrichment, and community-building activities, we continue to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.
GIFT SHOPS
In 2024, we expanded by opening two new gift shops, providing even more opportunities for our community to support our mission. Howdy Homemade Ice Cream at 2850 Douglas Drive in Bossier City, and our gift shop at Ochsner LSU St. Mary’s Hospital at 911 Margaret Place in Shreveport. These shops offer unique, handcrafted items created in our AngelWorks Day Program.
