ABOUT HOLY ANGELS

Established in 1965, Holy Angels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing love, support, and empowerment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through residential services, job training, and opportunities for meaningful work, Holy Angels creates a community where individuals can thrive with dignity and purpose.

While the mission remains steadfast, Holy Angels has grown to include a diverse range of programs such as AngelWorks, Holy Angels Gift Shops, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream by Holy Angels, and Holy Angels Academy—each designed to expand opportunities, foster independence, and enrich lives.

Our Story

In 1963, three local, prominent families of Shreveport, Louisiana, the Pollards, the Gilsters, and the O’Briens, donated 64 acres to the Catholic Diocese for the purpose of establishing Holy Angels. Today, Holy Angels serves hundreds of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities ranging in age from young children to senior citizens. A staff of over 200 works to provide those served with a path to self-fulfillment through education, empowerment, spirituality, independence, and work. Nearly 180 individuals call Holy Angels home, and more than 100 participate in the award-winning AngelWorks Day Program along with community clients. In addition, Holy Angels Academy provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), outpatient therapies, and education to young clients and their families.
