Howdy Homemade by Holy Angels is now serving up scoops of ice cream at our newest establishment at 2850 Douglas Drive in Bossier City. Come enjoy first-hand “amazing ice cream, served by amazing people!”
The grand opening, which took place on January 20, 2024, was attended by Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler, who enjoyed the “first scoop” of ice cream. Local dignitaries from Bossier and Shreveport, Holy Angels staff, and friends of Holy Angels were also present at the event, where they sampled fresh, homemade ice cream, including Howdy’s signature flavor, Dr. Pepper Chocolate Chip, and seasonal flavors like King Cake.
“Holy Angels is proud to join the exciting Bossier City business community and to bring the joy of amazing ice cream to the hearts of our customers,” said Laurie Boswell, Chief Executive Officer of Holy Angels. “Each scoop is made and served by remarkable individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities that we call ‘our heroes’. This expansion demonstrates Holy Angels’ unwavering commitment to changing how society views individuals with disabilities.”
Franchised by Holy Angels in 2023, Howdy Homemade focuses on employing community members with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Holy Angels opened the first Louisiana-based Howdy Homemade Ice Cream franchise at the Holy Angels David Toms AngelWorks Gift Shop in January 2023. The Bossier City location expands opportunities for community members to participate in meaningful work in a safe, friendly environment.
Customers can enjoy delicious ice cream by the scoop or pint inside the newly decorated Bossier City location. Also available for purchase are the famous Holy Angels Cookies and delicious to-go lasagna, a Central Italian recipe from the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows prepared with handmade pasta. Customers may also browse a selection of hand-crafted art and homeware made by residents of Holy Angels. For more information about catering or where to buy locally, visit howdybyholyangels.com.
