The Occupational Therapy department at Holy Angels works with our clients and program participants assisting them as they engage in the work training offered through the AngelWorks Day Program. Services offered under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and the Certified Occupational Therapy assistant also include mobility evaluations including wheelchair, walkers, gait trainers, etc. Repairs/modifications to the equipment are offered as needed to keep the clients mobile and to ensure that the equipment supports each client’s unique postural needs. The Occupational Therapist assesses clients on their need for adaptive equipment to help them become as independent as possible in their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including; bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting. With our clients who require contracture management, Occupational Therapy offers splint fabrication, fitting, and maintenance to prevent joint contractures.
The Occupational Therapy department also manages the SNOEZELEN room, which is designed to deliver stimuli to the various senses using lighting effects, color, sound, smell, and music.
Yearly consultations are held with clients to identify the need for Occupational Therapy and to make recommendations to help them maintain a functional lifestyle.
