Holy Angels is equipped with a beautiful, state-of-the-art Aquatic Center that features an indoor therapy pool and an outdoor pool. Both are located in the Holy Angels Wellness Center. Services offered in the facility’s Aquatic Center provide therapy and recreation to our clients, to students of the Caddo Parish School System, and to residents of the Glen Retirement Center. Volunteers are encouraged to participate, as many people in our community have fond memories of volunteering or working as a life-guard at the Holy Angels Aquatic Center.
Aquatic therapy is a form of physical therapy that is performed in a pool. The water provides far-reaching benefits to the body and mind. The use of heat and warm water helps to assist in restoring a person’s strength and movement through the use of buoyancy and resistance. Water may be used for use in both active exercise or for passive immersion. During the summer months, our clients utilize our Aquatic Center as part of their weekly exercise regime. Throughout the year, individuals with autism and development disabilities along with community participants enjoy the therapeutic benefits of recreation in the water and water therapy.
